Turkey Assembly of Persons with Disabilities
The Confederation of the Persons with Disabilities is implementing “Active Citizenship is Our Right: Towards Turkey Assembly of Persons with Disabilities” project since December 2017 with the financial support of the European Union. The project aims to networking between disability organizations, encourage a sustainable dialog and create a right-based advocacy network. It also aims to strenghten the persons with disabilities and the civil society in Turkey.
The project’s goal is engaging women, children, elderly and youth with disabilities to advocacy activities. In 2020 the Assembly will gather with the delegates of 54 LDCs and become a political pressure group.

Turkey Assembly of the Persons with Disabilities adopts a communication strategy as; a constructive, cooperative, participatory, gender equality oriented, right-based, considering regional priorities and diversity, non discriminative, non agist, anti-hierarchy, improving, facilitating, solution-oriented communication.
Acting together, empowering together, life long learning, capacity building, strenghtening solidarity between organizations and individuals, right-based advocacy, considering local needs, hope principle, encouraging volunteers, participatory, diversity, inclusive communication, crises management and improving conflict resolution skills are our ‘musts’.

Ankara, Konya, Kayseri, Eskişehir, Niğde, Nevşehir, İstanbul Anatolian Side, İstanbul European Side, Bursa, Kocaeli, Balıkesir, Sakarya, Edirne, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, Denizli, Muğla, Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Uşak, Antalya, Adana, Mersin, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Isparta, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Batman, Van, Erzurum, Elazığ, Ağrı, Kars, Bingöl, Erzincan, Tunceli, Samsun, Trabzon, Ordu, Çorum, Amasya, Sinop, Artvin, Zonguldak, Karabük, Rize and Giresun.
Local Disability Councils do not regard the persons with disabilities as needy-indigent persons, but persons who have rights. LDCs contributes the portrayel of persons with disabilities as active citizens who participate public life and advocate for their human rights. LDCs not only deal with disability issues but also with other groups such as women, children, LGBTI, refugees etc.
